Subject : Influences influencing purchasers purchasing chic garments There are a wide range of components which could afect the purchasing conduct of the buyers with regards to design and apparel. There are two sorts of behaviour, the singular sort which relies upon the people tastes and the environmantal type which relies upon culture and society. We likewise exposed at the top of the priority list that the greater part of the individuals we provide food for, extend from an age of 15 to and age of 30 years. We will compose a custom article test on Impacts influencing customers purchasing in vogue garments or then again any comparative subject just for you Request Now As I referenced beforehand culture is a significant factor with regards to the creation of garments and design and we are extremely mindful of it since our organization is arranged in india. Indeed, even now with the possibility of globilization in today’s youthful people’s minds, there is as yet an inclination to follow the country’s convention or habbits which changes the purchasing conduct of our potential clients definitely. Consequently we need to provide food and adjust to the country’s conventions and needs. It would be a serious mix-up to attempt to sell garments that conflict with these people’s culture or religion, since they basically won’t get them. Yet, this dosent imply that we shouldn’t produce garments that conflict with these people groups culture since in the nation there is a sure level of individuals not following this culture or same convention. This rate is known as the sub-culture which is significant for our organization. As a style dress structure organization we should remember sexual orientation. These days sexual orientation are pretty much equivalent so it is critical to adjust the stock we have for both genders. Age is additionally significant as I referenced previously. We should provide food for the larger part age gathering. Ways of life likewise shouldn’t be disregarded. this zone is critical with regards to creating dress. Since our principle showcase are understudies there are two components which impact their way of life. One impact are the reference gatherings and yearning gatherings. A genuine case of these are renowned individuals known to these understudies like vocalists or entertainers. These individuals figure out how to present any sort of style going from a wide range of strange design back to antiquated methods of dressing. Thusly its hard yet essential to stay up with the latest mind these adjustments in design so we can gracefully our clients with what they need. Another impact is family. Ordinarily understudies are spoken to by the guardians however it isn't so much that regular any longer. Its almost certain that they are spoken to by a more seasoned sibling or sister. Social classes are essential to see when creating garments. In a nation one finds distinctive social classes and thusly there is a decision. We either provide food for all the various classes or pick the class which has most of expected purchasers. For instance the Upper social class are bound to purchase a great neet shirt or pants while the center social class would be upbeat mind a T-shirt and a couple non tasteful pants, for instance pants. In any case, since we are providing food for a gathering of individuals who are understudies they are bound to purchase new form so we need to fulfill their requirements purchase selling them what they need like the most popular trend at a value that can fulfill their salary. Another factor that I think ought to be referenced is the advertising exertion appeared by the representatives for hight client acknowledgment. In the event that this is done it puts an indispensable decent light on our image and outlet. They ought to put forth a valiant effort to satisfy the client with the goal that the client gets a decent impression and leaves the shop fulfilled. All the elements referenced above are significant and ought to be followed up to acquire a higher deals volume. They ought to be explored and analyzed and furthermore stayed up with the latest however much as could reasonably be expected. In the event that this is done the organization will have extraordinary achievement with its current clients as well as with new ones to come. The most effective method to refer to Influences influencing shoppers purchasing stylish garments, Papers

Take care of yourself.

Take care of yourself. trigger warnings for mentions of depression, EDs, and anxiety I dont quite know where to start with this post. In fact, Ive rewritten it so many times that there are, like, 4 different drafts of it sitting in WordPress right now. I think Im just intimidated because it was something very intimate and personal, but now this post has transformed into more of a ~Heres How I Take Care of Myself at one of the most stressful colleges in the world~. Whether they voiced it or not, I knew my family was really worried about my decision to go to MIT. Of course they were proud of me, as its probably at one point or another some aspiring scientists dream to study at one of the most famous STEM institutions in the world. Yet, they also knew just how stressful the MIT culture is. Its not that the environment is overly competitive MIT is probably one of the most collaborative places Ive experienced and Im eternally grateful that I dont have to worry about grade backstabbing and all that here. Instead, we typically fall into habits of isolation and academic overload and burnout and essentially everything in that whole I just need this fucking degree but dear GOD Im so tired of trying right now area. And my family, who knows that I havent had the greatest track record in terms of keeping mentally stable, obviously voiced a little hesitation. It took me a while to convince them Id be okay, but I think theyre slowly realizing that I, in fact, will be okay. Every day, though, my mom is sure to send me messages checking in. (Dont forget to take your Vitamin D, Camille, itll help you with seasonal affective disorder. Take care of yourself. Yes, mom. Thank you.) (Have you been drinking a lot of water? Make sure you play guitar once in a while. Creative outlets~~ Got it, Mom. And yeah I drank like three bottles today. You should be drinking FOUR. This isnt the first time its been mentioned to me. In fact, someone reminded me of SAD just last Thursday. I was at the Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair 70th Year Anniversary Gala, where the CEOs husband had a quick chat with me. Where are you from? California. Ah, Im from California, too. You ever heard of seasonal affective disorder? Yes, sir, I have. Take care of yourself. Shits a tough one. Theres something very comforting in knowing that the world is changing and the stigma around mental health is slowly, but surely, being destroyed. I remember back in the fifth grade, after my first depressive episode, my mom had told me not to tell anyone at school that I had gone to therapy. Looking back on it now, I know she was doing that because the kids at my school were probably not going to handle the whole My fifth grade classmate has depression talk kindly, but the way she had said it made it feel like a dirty word. Like something I wasnt  supposed to talk about. I dont know exactly when I came to the realization that therapys not something bad or taboo, but I know that it definitely coincided with my discovery and increased use of social media. For example: this tweet is truly a blessing. Growth, where the world is becoming less afraid of admitting that theyre not in the best state of mind. Growth, where we learn how we can best support those going through troubling times. During my time at college, Ive been trying my best to emphasize self care. I keep track of my water intake, I follow a good, healthy sleep schedule, I keep up with my skincare routine.01 My roommate can attest to my numerous skincare products that sit nicely in line atop my dresser. There are...far too many and I kind of want to do a post on my skincare routine, but unsure if theres interest. Hm... Its been doing wonders for my mental health (and my skin! Holy shit, Im a glowing goddess), but it also reminds me of how far Ive come. I remember the sleepless nights in high school, staying up until 3 in the morning just to get one more page in, one more problem done, one more Khan Academy video. It felt like an endless cycle of useless repetition. Senior year, I focused on making a change to put less emphasis on academics, and instead, on my own social life and mental health. I was worried coming into MIT that I would undergo the endless cycle once again. I would neglect my own mental wellbeing for the sake of a higher pset grade. Im happy to say that Ive been balancing my life pretty well. There are so many events on and off campus that students can participate in to take their mind off of the academic aspect of college and focus on the other parts of it! I think a lot of people, and sometimes myself included, forget that theres a lot more to the college experience than classes and career development. The Gym + Intro to Weightlifting for Women This is a pretty big one for me actually. I grew up really hating the way I looked, as most growing girls in society do, unfortunately. I skipped a lot of meals throughout middle school and high school without really telling anyone. Every time I looked at food, my mind didnt process it as food, but instead a number. Its calories. I never went to the gym out of fear that people would judge me for how weak I was and also just a blatant fear of anyone even seeing my body in those tight workout clothes. Overall, a super bad time. It was really difficult for me to convince myself that my body does, in fact, need food to live and function and grow, but I remember reaching a point where I kind of grew angry at this  thing and just said fuck it and ate whatever I wanted to eat and slowly taught myself not to feel guilty. Now, Im finding healthier ways to treat my body. I eat three meals a day with snacks in between and dont feel any shame in it. Most of the time, I love the way I look. And on the days where I dont, I learn to love it and no longer spiral into episodes of disgust and horror. Coming to MIT, I made a decision that I was going to get my act together and get over some fears. I mentioned earlier that I got over my fear of needles. Well, I also conquered my fear of going to the gym. I registered for the Intro the Weightlifting for Women class for my PE credits and that class has helped my journey to self love and appreciation so, so much. I learned how to properly weightlift and the class overall has not only helped me feel more good about my body and myself, but also gave me confidence to go to the Z-center and, well, not shit myself. I think now Im having to learn how to tackle other developing unhealthy habits, such as guilt whenever I skip a gym day, or skimping out on cardio and exercises. But Im sure Ill learn, one positive affirmation at a time. Painting and art Though I havent done much of this at MIT, Im really excited to get back into it. I took art classes at some small art studio in my town for about 2 years, ultimately quitting The result of my Bob Ross Paint Night! because I wanted to focus more on my academics, as usual. Its something Ive come to regret giving up, but now Im finally starting to paint again. I went to the Bob Ross painting night a couple weeks ago hosted by SaveTFP, where I kind of ignored the Bob Ross tutorial and found a random acrylic paint YouTube tutorial. Im really proud of myself seeing as the last time I painted was July, and the time before that was probably back in freshman year. It was really nice to just sit and focus my mind on solely painting for an hour and Id love to do it again. Im actually hoping to drop by the arts and crafts store sometime this week to try and pick up some acrylic paints and canvases, and Im alsomayhaps planning on buying a drawing tablet again. I gave my old one to my friend since she needed it more than I did, and I didnt really see myself picking up art again, but well, here I am. Its one of my old hobbies Im really happy to explore again. Music My relationship with music is kind of a love-hate one, as its just a topic for me thats full of a lot of regrets. I took piano lessons for approximately 6 years, but I never ended up any good at it. I took guitar lessons for about maybe 2 months and taught myself the rest of it, and I love guitar, but Im alsonot too good at it. I love music production and making beats and songwriting, but, aha! You guessed it! Im not good at it. I think that was the really frustrating part for me I loved this one thing so much, but I wasnt any good. Now, Im kind of sucking it up and just making myself pick it up again. I was originally supposed to join an acapella group this semester, but 1) got too scared to but also 2) I dont really have much time to do it. Im happy to just practice on my own and I really want to start from the basics: learning beginner classical pieces for the piano, practicing fingerpicking for guitar, getting back into singing songs that are comfortably in my range. My mom always texts me to make sure Im practicing, singing, playing because she says I need a creative outlet to function and exist. She is very, very correct. Videomaking, Filming, and Graphic Design This is one I havent dabbled in much, but know I  want to dabble in it. I used to run a YouTube channel dedicated to my music covers as well as some college application related videos. But I never really got to dive into the creative aspect of videos and filming, which is something Im really interested in. I really want to teach myself the rest of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. I only really have experience in Photoshop (thank you @ my old Tumblr for teaching me how to make gif edits) and Sony Vegas Pro (Im dogshit at it). Im hoping to maybe,  maybe start making things for my Tumblr again just as a motivator to actually learn InDesign, AfterEffects, and Premiere. This is a goal/creative outlet Im kind of iffy on, seeing as its really hard for me to pick up new skills. I really only learn in a class setting or format, which is why its been so hard for me to teach myself different languages or CAD since Ive never had the opportunity to take a class that teaches me how to do it. But! I learned how to use Photoshop from YouTube and Tumblr. Baking Ive been baking! So much! So so much! I dont know if I have many pictures, Our fudge crinkles! but Ive been baking at least once a week or once every two weeks to get my mind off of things and also enjoy a happy snack. A Loop floor favorite is my aunts fudge crinkles recipe (not actually her recipe, but she introduced it to me), where fudge crinkles are cookies made from cake mix! The cake mix, with added shortening and eggs and flour, is rolled into small one-inch balls that are then coated with powdered sugar and baked in an oven. It results in a nice sugary outside coating with a moist cake-like inside that I (and many others) love! I also made my aunts brownie recipe, but kind of shit all over it because I used Hershey cocoa powder instead of this fancy international cocoa powder that she swears by. Sorry, family. Regardless, the brownies were still delicious. A (relatively well-known) brownie tip is to use some tablespoons of instant My banana bread! (Nutella not pictured.) coffee to bring out the chocolate taste more. Trust me. Another Loop floor favorite is my aunts chocolate chip walnut banana bread recipe. I never knew I liked banana bread until I had this recipe. Its so easy to make, the banana bread turns out nice and moist always, and the banana bread with Nutella slathered on top? A godsend. There are many recipes for banana bread, but my aunts will always reign supreme. Ill be honest in saying that I was really nervous about my own mental health coming into MIT. And I know for sure that there are far shittier times to come. And that there will be days where I dont want to get out of bed, or I start entertaining the idea of transferring, or I just want to sit in all day and cry because of how  much there is. But it will be okay because I have these things, though they may seem small and little, they are My Things that I love. And I have my friends and family, My People that I love. Bonus texts of my mom being her Mom Self: some motherly positive affirmations mom calming me down in my time of Need. Post Tagged #is this positive enough for you MOTHER???? My roommate can attest to my numerous skincare products that sit nicely in line atop my dresser. There are...far too many and I kind of want to do a post on my skincare routine, but unsure if there's interest. Hm... back to text ?

Tattoos Have Different Meanings Or Significance - 1615 Words

In various societies, tattoos have had different meanings or significance. They have been popular for thousands of years in different cultures, as a common form of body modification. They can be symbolic of one’s self-expression, ‘a mark of individuality’, and body alteration as a compelling symbol. (Tiggemann Golder, 2006; Patterson Schroeder, 2010 as cited in Atik Yildirim, 2014). Tattoos have been around for so many years that its existence is unclear thus its origin remains a debate in today’s society. However, the earliest record was traced back to the East Mediterranean, mainly in places like Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy etc. (Atik and Yildirm, 2014). However, the idea was not well received during that period because Westerners associated tattoos with deviant behavior; it was ‘outside’ of their social norms. They linked tattoos with masculine outsider groups, such as prisoners, the military, and motorcycle gangs. Thus, their behaviors demonstrated that they were transgressing the social norm of bare skin by becoming adorned with tattoos and therefore it was considered a deviant behavior (Atkinson, 2003). Tattoos were also associated with behaviors such as drug use, shoplifting and other illegal activities (Tiggemann and Hopkins, 2011). Hence, there was much resistance and stigmatization. Even today, much of these attitudes and behaviors towards tattooed individual still exist. Nevertheless, tattoos underwent a revival and a shift in the 1900s. As a result of tattoos becoming more popular, the previously held concept of the phenomenon has significantly decreased and has become more socially acceptable. The media’s presentation of tattoos, and their inclusion in both the fashion and art industry have had an impact on the symbolism circulating the world of tattoo, and has weakened its negative association to deviance (DeMello, 1995 as cited in Larsen, Patterson Markham, 2014). Ethics Of Cheating Essay Example For Students

Ethics Of Cheating Essay Cheaters Never Win, Oh wait they dotheyre Cheaters Cheating is defined in the dictionary as, to deceive by trickery; swindle, however the dictionary fails to tell you if it is right or wrong to cheat. People have many different beliefs when it comes to cheating; some think its fine to do while others completely disapprove. I intend to show the different beliefs, from different perspectives of people, and also intend on proving which beliefs have the strongest and weakest arguments. An ethical egoist could argue that we have an obligation to cheat. Ethical egoists maintain the belief that we should act selfishly. We should do things that we believe in our self-interest, which is our own genuine interest. Egoist would cheat to benefit themselves, they believe that their own interest receives much more weight than everyone elses interest. Egoist realize that we are solely responsible for their own lives, therefore if cheating would benefit their lives then cheating is acceptable. If we did not cheat it would bring possible misfortune to our lives. However, it could also be argued by ethical egoist that we do not have an obligation to cheat. Egoist would agree that morality is about overcoming our selfishness and living our life with positive concern for the well being of others. Cheating is not looking at the well being of others, but rather doing the complete opposite. Unless everyone in the country had the answers to the test, then it would be considered good to cheat. Ethical egoist also like to think of themselves as good people, therefore they would want others to regard them in the same way. A cheater would not be regarded as a good person but rather, a bad person and a liar. A utilitarian would probably agree with cheating. Utilitarianism believes that morals are based on the happiness or misery of people. If a person cheated and got an A on the test, they would obviously be happy. Utilitarians also have the tendency to look at the short-term affects of a situation. For example, cheating would result in an A, however the broad perspective is that nothing would be learned, or if they were to get caught cheating they would fail, therefore in actuality they are not benefiting at all. Deontology on the other hand would argue that you should not cheat. Deontology assumes that we all have clear sets of duties that we ought to obey, these are given to us from God or our own reason. Therefore cheating is obviously wrong, so you ought not to cheat. Deontology believes that you have a set of duties that you follow. In deontological ethics, an action is considered morally good because of some characteristic of the action itself, not because the result of the action is good. Of the three approaches to ethics that are mentioned above I think that the egoists support of cheating makes the best argument. Although, I personally do not believe in cheating I do think that egoist do justify the act of cheating. Egoists feel that we should put our selves before all others and that we should do what makes us happy. They feel that whatever will benefit us most will in turn make us happier. I think the comparison of the strongest argument brings out the weaknesses in the other two arguments. I feel that utilitarianism does not have as strong of an argument for cheating, because they do not look at the entire situation and also they are interested in the happiness of themselves, cheating is not necessarily always going to make you happy. I believe that deontology has the weakest argument, they live by what you ought to do. They base all their decisions on God or morals that they were taught, they do not think on their own; they are told of their duties. It seems to me that deontology is almost robotic in a sense. These two arguments seem to concrete for people to actually maintain. End Of The World As Told In The New Testament Essays -

End Of The World As Told In The New Testament Well to start off I would like to say what the three different views that there are. The first view is "Already Fulfilled" is basically saying that all of the signs of the end have all happened before the years 70 A.D.. The second view is "Partially Fulfilled" which says that some of these events already happened in 70 A.D. and some of them will still happen in the future. The last belief is the "Not Yet Fulfilled" view, which says that all of these things will happen in the end of times. The belief that I believe in is the "Not Yet Fulfilled" view. Here are some reasons in which I hold this view. As it is stated in Matthew 24:34, it says that "...all these things will not happen until this generation passes away...". I feel that this passage had to have been talking about the people of that time. That is one base on which I hold this belief, because that, possibly, some of the "end of times events" have happened, but NOT ALL. If they would have all occurred at that time I would probably hold a different view. I really don't ever recall reading in the Bible about any natural disasters, other than the Flood. That is one point that really sticks out to me that really makes me believe this view, especially in the increase lately in all of the natural disasters happening. When Jesus comes down in the second coming, I feel that all nations will mourn, just like others have done when they learn of their wrongs. It is then in which all Christians will go up Heaven and begin to reign up there, at which at the same time down on Earth will be the great war, Armageddon. I do not know if this will be the time in which the Sun, Moon, and Stars will all fall and turn to darkness. Well, we really will not know what the true belief is until the end of the world. There has been many intense discussions between scholars, but if they are Christians they will find out in the end, in which it really does not matter what view is correct.

Free Essays on Scripting Novels

Scripting Novels Laurence Sterne’s, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, is a lengthy novel filled with essayistic passages and seemingly unrelated events. The novel has a self-proclaimed digressive-progressive style, which is continuously defended by the novels author/protagonist Tristram. This progressive/digressive style can be easily seen throughout the entire novel; Tristram often moves from the events of his actual story to other events, which seem to have no significance or relevance. Tristram, being the author of his own life story, frequently offers his own opinions as to the happenings and follies of other characters. Tristram also constantly illustrates his authority by refusing to tell his tale in chronological order. By fracturing the sequence of the stories he tells and interjecting them with chains of associated ideas, memories, and anecdotes, Tristram allows thematic significance to emerge out of surprising juxtapositions between seemingly unrelated events. Tristram dotes on these aforementioned elements; â€Å"These unforeseen stoppages, which I own I had no conception of when I first set out;but which, I am convinced now, will rather increase than diminish as I advance, have struck out a hint which I am resolved to follow; and that is,-not to be in a hurry;-but to go on leisurely, writing and publishing two volumes of my life every year†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Sterne 35). Recommendation proposal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Recommendation proposal - Essay Example In this report, I give an explanation on better solution identified by the state welfare committee and present our findings after comparison of substance abuse mental disorder cases in the state. Together with the social welfare committee, we have considered the following solutions: There has been a big increase of substance mental disorder cases over the past couple of years. Excessive drinking of alcohol has been one of the major causes. This increase is attributed to ignorance, violation of rules controlling sale and drinking of alcohol not having effective public sensitization programs on dangers of abusing alcohol and lineament punishment to the offenders. The enforcement of laws that govern alcohol sale and consumption is a major step. This can de enhanced by employing more policemen and giving them relevant patrol facilities. This will deter the law breakers from going against the regulations that control alcohol sale and consumption. More social workers should be employed and trained to educate the public on the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. In addition, the social worker should be empowered and facilitated by more training and finances to educate the public. Further, the social workers should innovate more ways to educate and create more forums to sensitize the public. There are bar attendants selling alcohol to patrons which are already drunk to maximize the profit. In addition, others extend the time limits contributing to an increase in excessive alcohol consumption. Laws should be enacted to give stiff penalties to these offenders to deter them violating the law. For the first offenders, the fines should be more and the second offenders’ licenses should be suspended and the offenders jailed. The fines for patron who engage in binge drinking should be more and repeat offenders should be taken to rehabilitation centers. There were 1040 cases of substance abuse mental disorder in 2012. Through recruiting more

Models of Decision-Making Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Models of Decision-Making - Research Paper Example The Classical model of decision making can be utilized in the organization to make various business decisions (Li 1). This is a prescriptive method of decision making and assumes that managers are rational and logical in their decision making process and their decision will be governed by the best interests of the organization. My organization recently purchased new manufacturing equipments. The main problem was increasing costs of servicing the old machine, low output and raw materials wastage during the manufacturing process. The management made the decision by following the classical model since the purchase decision was rational. The management followed a clear sequential process of analyzing the costs involved in servicing the previous equipment and associated benefits (Li 2). The management also conducted a cost-benefit analysis of the new equipments by factoring all associated costs and expected output to the organization. The management also considered other alternatives incl uding upgrading the previous equipment or leasing the equipment from a third party. After the rational and sequential analysis of the decision criteria, the management found it prudent and reasonable to purchase the new equipment instead of upgrading or leasing one from third parties. The management later bought the new machine and made a follow up to ensure it met the objectives of the decision (Li 3). The administrative model is also refereed as the behavioral model or neoclassical model. There are numerous factors which determine how a problem or decision can be classified in to the classical model, administrative and political model. For the classical model, the decisions or problems will be classified in this model if the decision aims at accomplishing a particular well-known goal (Ayobami 1). The logical criteria for making the decision should be economic interest and the decision maker should be rational. There must be conditions of certainty including

Definition Of Industry And Porter Economics Essay

Definition Of Industry And Porter Economics Essay This chapter presents a basic explanation of how the pharmaceutical industry will be defined and which models will be used to analyse it. 2.1 Definition of Industry The most important definition of industry was given by Michael Porter in 1979: a group of competitors producing substitutes that are close enough that the behavior of any firm affects each of the others either directly or indirectly.  [1]  Later, Porter defined the term more precisely as a group of companies offering products or services that are close substitutes for each other, that is, products or services that satisfy the same basic customers needs.  [2]  This new definition emphasizes the importance of industry borders and industrys role as a market supplier or producer of goods and services, as distinguished from a market, defined as a consumer of goods and services. Furthermore, inside every industry there are groups of companies that follow similar strategies, defined by Michael S. Hunt in his unpublished 1972 Ph.D. dissertation as strategic groups.  [3]  Between these groups there are differences in entry barriers, bargaining power with buyers and suppliers and skills and resources  [4]  . Strategic groups compete against each other within the industry as a result of these differences. 2.2 Models to Analyze the Industry and Its Environment The literature agrees that comprehension of the industry structure is essential to developing a firms strategy and has a greater effect on the firms performance than whether it is business-specific or corporate-parent.  [5]  The comprehension of the structure requires analyses of the industrys life cycle. It also requires step-by-step political, legal, technological, social and economic analyses as well as the five driving forces of business, provided by Michael Porter. By utilizing these analysis techniques, it is also possible to anticipate changes in industry competition and profitability over time. 2.2.1 Industry Life Cycle Analysis During its development an industry passes through different phases, each characterized by a different environment that obliges competition to assume different forms. Through studying the life cycle, the industry realizes its stake in the market and its influence on consumers. The industry life cycle model includes four different phases: introduction, growth, maturity and decline.  [6]   The introductory phase is characterized by low demand, resulting in higher prices as a consequence of the firms inability to realize economies of scale. This situation gives rise to low profit margins and losses are expected due to substantial investments in new categories. Market penetration may be obstructed by a lack of technologies and competencies. Strategy is focused mainly on RD and production, with the goal of enhancing novelty and quality. Competitors, attracted by the rising demand, attempt to replicate the new product.  [7]   In the second phase, growth, the use of the product is extended, demand grows, prices decline due to economies of scale, barriers to entry are lower and the threat of new entry is high. At this phase the technology is usually not exclusive property of one or more firms, and the primary reaction to competition is marketing expenditure and initiatives; profits are not very high because prices decline as competitors enter the market. There is a transition period, or shakeout, between the second and the third phases. The shakeout involves finding and using all investment opportunities, because the market is near saturation and demand grows more slowly.  [8]   In the third phase, maturity, market growth is low or nonexistent, and the focus shifts to gaining market share; demand is represented only by the substitution of products, investment in RD decreases and there is little innovation. In this phase firms seek cost reductions, and competition is based primarily on advertising and quality because of the low differentiation between products. Big firms acquire smaller players, while others are forced to exit. As a conseguence of high barrier to entry, the threat of new entrants are low.  [9]   The last phase is decline, so called because of the continued decline in demand. Industries arrive at this stage for a variety of reasons. These include a change in social behaviors, demographic changes, international competition, technological innovations and increased customer knowledge. The buying process is based primarily on price rather than innovation. As a result, profit and revenues decline, and the industry as a whole may be supplanted.  [10]   2.2.2 PEST Analysis The term PEST is an acronym of several factors Political, Economic, Social and Technological that influence business activities at any given moment. Due to the fact that each aspect may have an independent impact on the industry, it is essential that each be individually identified and analyzed through the PEST Analysis.  [11]   The political aspect of analysis encompasses various factors that influence business activities in a given country at several levels: national, subnational and supranational levels.  [12]  These include trade policies control imports, exports and international business partners, government ownership of industry, attitude toward monopolies and competition and trade policies. Hence, failure to consider these policies may result in loss of revenue due to taxes or penalty fees. Government stability is also very important, because it eradicates the risks associated with wars and conflicts. For an industry to thrive, political stability must be uncompromised; otherwise, sales and business activities will be uncertain, and investors will lose interest. The internal political issues in any country influence the running of industries. Politics based on race or religion may define the course for certain industries, especially if an industry falls short of political expectations. Elections and changes in leadership also influence an industrys strengths and opportunities and thus should be considered during the analysis. In addition to internal issues, international pressures and influences may affect some industries, such as environmental degradation or product safety. Another factor is terrorism. Though uncommon in many countries, poor or unstable governance may attract terrorist activities, vengeful or otherwise, which can have adverse effects on the industries operating in that country. All these issues may stunt industrial growth and discourage stakeholders from making significant investments.  [13]   The economic aspect of analysis includes many factors. The first factor to consider is the current economic situation and trends in the country in which the industry is based. Companies should note inflation and economic decline so that when it comes to investing, they can avoid being financially affected. Failure to do this results in an economically blind platform that may cause the industrys sudden collapse. Another factor to consider in analysis is taxation rates. When there are high taxation rates in a given country, price-based competition may affect a given industry in the international market. International economic trends are also very important, because they define currency exchange rates, imports and exports. Other factors to consider are consumer expenditure and disposable income and, finally, legal issues, including all trade legislation in a given country and other legal regulations that inhibit or encourage expansion of business activities. Also to be considered are co nsumer protection laws, employment laws, environmental protection laws and quality standardization regulations. Law regulating industrial competition, market policies and guidelines also have a significant impact on the stability of industry and future expansion opportunity.  [14]   When considering the social aspect, factors including demographic changes, shifts in values and culture and changes in lifestyle are important to note so as to strategize on expansion and growth  [15]  . Certain factors, such as media and communities, influence an industrys growth and returns. Brand name and corporate image are also very important in influencing growth and returns since they shape customer loyalty and shareholder investment. The medias views on certain industrial products should be incorporated into the analysis, as should consumer attitudes and sensibility to green issues, that is, issues that affect the environment, energy consumption and waste and its disposal. A companys information systems and internal and external communications should also be analyzed to ensure that it keeps pace with its competitors. Other factors are the policies regulating education, health and distribution of income, all of which, in the long run, influence consumer use of products   [16]  . The technological aspect of analysis encompasses a variety of factors. In addition to developing technologies, all associated technologies, along with their innovation potentials, speed of change and adoption of new technology, should be analyzed for a proper evaluation of the industry. Other technological factors are transportation, waste management and online business. The level of expenditure on RD should also be considered in order to secure the industrys competitive position to prevent losses and collapse  [17]  . 2.2.3 Porters Five Competitive Forces Analysis Porters model, as described by Kay, is an evolution of the Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm conceived by Edward Mason at Harvard University in the 1930s and detailed by Scherer in the 1980s.  [18]  ,  [19]  The model aims to determine the intensity of industry competition, major issues in determining strategy and whether an industry is attractive or not.  [20]  Porter identified five competitive forces that act on an industry and its environment: threat of entry, intensity of rivalry among existing competitors, threat of substitutes, bargaining power of buyers and bargaining power of suppliers.  [21]   The first competitive force, threat of entry, refers to the threat of new entrants in an established industry or acquisition to gain market share. Reactions of participants and barriers to entry are the main factors used to establish whether the threat is high or low. Six major entry barriers have been identified: capital required to compete in the industry (especially in risky industry, such as advertising or RD) switching costs access to distribution channels economies of scale cost disadvantages independent of scale, such as patents, access to know-how, access to limited resources, favorable locations, government subsidies or policies and learning or experience curves product differentiation expected retaliation from existing firms against the new entrants Strong barriers to the entry of new firms enable a few firms to dominate the market and thereby influence prices. The second force is intensity of rivalry among existing competitors. Rivalry takes place when one or more firms inside an industry try to improve their position using tactics such as price competition, new product introduction or new services. Rivalry depends on several factors: number and size of competitors, industry growth, product characteristics (which determine whether the rivalry is based on price or differentiation), cost structure, exit barriers, diverse competitors, operative capacity and high strategic stakes. If an industry is inhibited, then firms will experience difficulties when trying to expand. The growth of foreign competition and the corporate stakes should also be included in the analysis. Threat of substitutes is the third forces. Substitutes are those products manufactured by other industries but serving the same purposes as the initial product. These substitute products cause the demand to decline. The implications are reduced profits and reduced market command by the original capital investor. This is of particular importance when the buyer has no switching costs and can easily compare products in terms of price and efficiency. Bargaining power of buyers is the fourth force. High bargaining power positions weak firms inside the industry, forcing price down, enhancing competition between industry players and resulting in bargaining for higher quality or services. This power is particularly high under certain conditions, such as few and specific buyers, undifferentiated products, low switching costs, the possibility of backward integration and information about demand and the availability of market price to the buyers. Furthermore, bargaining power is high if product quality is not a crucial factor of decision-making and if what the buyer is acquiring is a modest fraction of his total costs. Bargaining power is even higher when the buyer is a retailer or a wholesaler able to influence the consumers purchasing decision. The fifth and last force is the bargaining power of suppliers. This can act on the industry in several ways: raising prices, lowering quality or privileging some buyers. Supplier power can be divided into several elements. One of these elements is supplier concentration. Suppliers are in a stronger position when there are few suppliers, switching costs are high, the industry they are serving account for a small fraction of their business or their products are an important part of the buyers business. The bargaining power of suppliers is low or nonexistent when there are substitute products. Lastly, purchase volume and the suppliers influence on cost are very important.

Free Essays - Tuesdays With Morrie :: Tuesdays With Morrie Essays

When my parents first told me that it would be a good idea for me to read Tuesdays With Morrie, my perception of the memoir was that it was an account of an old man dying.   This did not seem, to me, to be the most interesting topic to read about.   I reluctantly began the book and soon became quite involved with the novel’s insightful progression.   I initially thought I would construct a typical review of the novel and hand it in for a good grade.   I then asked myself if I would learn anything by writing a summary.   Two answers became evident.   The first was that, of course, I would learn how to write yet another book report.   The second was that I would not benefit at all from simply summarizing the memoir.   I came to the conclusion that by focusing my paper on that which Morrie so eloquently taught the reader, both me and my teacher would gain insight and understanding about living life to it’s fullest.   Morrie’s message was, in short, not to become preoccupied with death and dying, but to live the life that you still have left in a meaningful and rewarding way.   He believed that although death would soon take him, he wanted to teach others and share his ideas so that they could be passed on to future generations.     Mitch Albom is an alumnus of Brandeis University, where Morrie Schwartz taught for many years.   Morrie left a lasting impression on Mitch and that impression is what eventually motivated Mitch to return to his wise professor.   Mitch rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man’s life.   Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch every Tuesday in his study, just as they had done in college days.   Morrie taught Mitch his final lesson: how to live.   Morrie and Mitch’s relationship went far beyond that of a teacher and student.   It turned into a friendship between two men.   Morrie taught Mitch innumerable lessons about the world, feeling sorry for oneself, regrets, death, family, emotions, fear of aging, money, how love goes on, marriage, culture, forgiveness, and saying good-bye.   Morrie never wanted sympathy from Mitch; only an open mind and heart.   Morrie discussed his philosophies on life with Mitch and encouraged him to do the same.   Morrie shared his strengths and his weaknesses with his student, allowing him to open up to his old professor in a way that would help him to recharge his existing life.

Biology IA Fitness - Free Essay Example

Analysis As my partner and I conducted this experiment, we had noticed a couple of things and learned a couple of things throughout and after the experiment. As we conducted the experiment, at first we noticed how as the days went by, the exercises were becoming easier to perform. For example, the first two weeks we would begin to sweat heavily as we performed our exercises. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Biology IA Fitness" essay for you Create order After those the first two starting weeks, we began to sweat less and it took longer each time for us to start to drop a couple of sweat drops. Also, this meant that we would get less tired as we performed each exercise. The exercises began to be easier to perform, we would get less tired each time, we began to sweat after a couple of minutes more into the exercise, and we would be more energetic each time. As we looked at our final data, we noticed the difference between our weights as we analyzed the way we began to lose weight. We noticed how the starting weeks of exercise were the most effective for us to lose weight while the mid and ending weeks of the experiment were not as effective. This analysis made us realize how starting to feel less tired, sweat less, and feel more energetic correlates to the fact that the beginning weeks of the experiment were the most effective. Together we began to lose weight the fastest and easiest around the first two-three weeks of exercise than the following weeks. We also realized how although we both weighted the exact amount of pounds, performed the same exercises, consumed the same food, and the same amounts of food, I began to lose weight faster and much more significantly than my partner Sebastian. Acknowledging the fact that I was consuming a full tea cup of black tea fifteen minutes before exercise and Sebastian was not, we came to the conc lusion that consuming black tea before exercise does help reduce weight faster than not taking any related products. Conclusion Throughout our experiment, Sebastian and I attempted to complete it as perfect as possible by creating the habit of keeping our actions constant. As we began exercising, we noticed the change of us getting tired, the amount of sweat produced, and the amount of weight loss as we progressed. Although we failed to reach our goal ,which was to lose ten pounds throughout the experiment, I was able to lose eight pounds and Sebastian was able to lose 7.35 pounds. Taking a look at our data and analyzing it, we came to the conclusion that Black Tea does help reduce weight than not taking any related product for weight loss. Throughout the experiment, Sebastian and I consumed the same amount of food per day, kept the same exercise routines, and exercised the same amount of times per day. One important thing we tried to keep constant and firm, was to keep our calorie per day goal of 1,200. We tried to consume 1,200 calories per day since we used the app named â€Å"My Fitness Pal† in order to achieve our goal. In order to keep that constant calorie consumption, we ate similar foods such as chicken, fish, lots of vegetables, fruits as snacks, and also drank lots of water. I kept consuming a full tea cup of black tea fifteen minutes before exercise, and we kept recording our weights before exercising. As mentioned before, we began to notice the change in several things such as the time we would get tired, the difficulty in our exercises, the sweat produced, and the energy we felt as we conducted the experiment. After taking a look at our data, we realized how after several days of exercise our bodies became used to the routine day after day. For that given reason, it was not surprising to see the change in our bodies by the way it reacted after two to three weeks. Regarding the change in difficulty after several days of exercise, we also realized why we felt fast change of our body’s reaction to exercise. Because Sebastian and I would play soccer back then and would always try to stay fit, it was not a difficult challenge for our bodies to adjust and get used to the exercise we conducted. After taking a look at our recorded data, we noticed the difference in each other’s weight loss as we exercised every day. Because I was taking Black Tea and Sebastian was not, we came to the conclusion that Black Tea helped me lose weight at a faster rate than Sebastian. Acknowledging the fact that we kept the amount of calories, food consumed, and the exercises as a constant for each other, it was quite understandable why I was losing weight at a faster rate than Sebastian. In total, Sebastian lost 6.35 pounds and I lost 8 pounds throughout the experiment. That data gives us enough evidence to prove that Black Tea does help reduce weight during exercise than not taking any weight loss product. Although Sebastian and I attempted to keep certain variables as constant as possible, there could have been certain limitations present during the experiment. Because we were not under high supervision, there could have been a given moment where either of us could have forgotten to record a certain food that we consumed. Keeping track of everything we consumed throughout the day was quite a challenge, maybe there could have been an easier way to keep track of what we ate at any moment. Also, another limitation that could have affected our experiment was the change of times we were able to exercise every day. As planned, sometimes we were able to exercise at 6:00 p.m. but there were times where we had to exercise around 7:00 p.m and 9:00 p.m due to the fact that there were moments in where we were both busy. Although there could have been certain limitations, it did not stop us from proving our hypothesis correct. We were able to find out that Black Tea does help reduce weight at a fa ster rate then not consuming any similar products.
